Musketeer Monday Part One: Xavier Davy

Musketeer Monday Part One: Xavier Davy

He has his sights set on SUNY Delhi, nestled in the Catskill Mountains, or SUNY Alfred State College when he graduates from Central Islip High School in June. Meet Xavier Davy, this week's Musketeer Monday feature!

Xavier attends Eastern Suffolk BOCES each day to hone his skills in HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), which he plans to major in after graduation. While he completes the remainder of his course requirements on the CIHS campus daily after returning from BOCES, he is also a familiar presence on the track.

A dedicated Musketeer athlete, Xavier has built an impressive record. He played cornerback on the football team for four years and participated in wrestling during his freshman year, but he is primarily a runner. He has competed in boys varsity winter track for four years and is about to begin his fourth season in boys varsity spring track— and what a track record he has to boast!

Coach Christian Pisano notes that Xavier has competed at the state qualifiers for the triple jump and has been named his team’s most valuable athlete. Coach Pisano highlighted Xavier’s versatility, saying he competed all season in the long jump, triple jump, and high jump.

"We are hoping Xavier will attend SUNY Delhi to continue with his HVAC certification," Pisano said. "He is a senior who will be missed, as others will be. These athletes are my extended family."

The sentiment is mutual for Xavier. "I look up to Coach Pisano like a second father," he said. "We have a good relationship."

Xavier also expressed appreciation for his mother's support and presence. "My mom has always been there, and she has always encouraged me. I didn’t see how valuable being an athlete would be until I was in eighth grade."

When asked what it means to be a Musketeer, Xavier said, "It feels good to be part of a team where the coaches really care about me as an individual. Also, every athlete I’ve played with motivates me and the others on our team. We always push each other to be better."

Congratulations to Xavier Davy, this week's Musketeer Monday feature!
